The North American (Virtual) Locomotive Works proudly presents;

The North East Corridor (NEC) Mega-Pack #1

These models are brought to you by North American (Virtual) Locomotive Works!

In order to enhance your Microsoft Train Simulator experience on the North East Corridor we have built the following models for your train siming pleasure.

The work horse of the NEC…..

The AEM7dc by built by ASEA/GM in Phase 3 paint.

The AEM7L as modified by Amtrak’s Wilmington Shops in Phase 4 paint and SEPTA paint.

The AEM7ac as Upgraded with GEC/Alsthom supplied kits in the Wilmington Shops in Acela Paint.

The ALP44 which is the push-pull commuter variant of the AEM7s in NJT paint.

With over 7,000 Diesel equivalent horsepower and the ability to run reliably and continuously at 125mph the AEM7s and the included Amfleet passenger coaches allowed Amtrak to replace their problematic Metroliner EMU sets and retire the GG1s and heritage cars from the NEC and bump the E60s, with their high speed tracking problems, to heavy or special duty that would require 2 AEM7s and could meet its schedule at less than 90 mph or consists that have freight style direct release brakes such as Road Railer and MHC cars.

There are 8 different motors and 3 different cabviews included in this package.

The Amfleet 1 passenger cars. Amtrak needed a high speed capable passenger coach series and they felt they had the beginnings of one in the Budd built Metroliner EMU. So the design was updated and the motorized trucks replaced with de-motored high speed trucks with disc brakes. And voila they had the very advanced for its time AMFLEET coach.  We have included 5 of each of the following paint schemes Phase 3, Phase 4, Phase 5 and Acela regional. The units labeled NEC have animated doors and the others do not. Note that not all cars have interior views and the 5th car in each set is the only one with the vestibule door closed and is designed to be the last car in the train.

We have included 47 different cars in this package.

We hope you enjoy running this NALW release as much as we did building it.
